Whether it be by her wonderful fanfics or in her role as a Host at WB's Lois and Clark.

Well, I'm a member of LOISCLA and of course, the fan fiction listserv (LOISCLA-GENERAL-L), I'm a channel administrator on #loiscla (on the undernet IRC) as well as another somewhat less popular, but no less *fun* Lois & Clark channel -- which shall remain nameless!

I've also got a few web pages at present which grew as my experience grew online The Lois & Clark Fantasy Land Pages, the Lois & Clark Web server (formerly of Joe Dawis), I'm the coordinator of the Lois & Clark Fan fiction Archive.. (but truly, Kathy Brown, our editor-in-chief and Lauren Willoughby, our web designer do so much for the archive, I usually spend bow in awe. )

On AOL, I was the forum leader for the Warner Brothers Lois & Clark Forum and at present, I'm coordinating a team within the Entertainment Asylum (AOL Keyword ASYLUM) or http//www.asylum.com on the WWW. Asylum is a great name for the place too! <g>

Lois and Clark or Superman Status

How long have you been watching L&C?
Since the dawn of time, LOL ;) Or at least, since the pilot first aired back in 1993. Way back then...and I've been an internet junkie..er..fan...ever since!

How long have you been a fan of Superman?
Oh, don't ask me that! <g> Well....I never was to be honest. Never got into Superman as a kid and even later on, I saw the movies, because everyone did ;) ...but other than that, Superman never stirred anything inside of me until I began to watch the Lois & Clark incarnation of the myth.

It was largely DJL's post-modern (90's if you will) love story which attracted me in the beginning, and my interest grew and grew from there, (as well as my appreciation for Teri Hatcher's portrayal of Lois Lane). Being trained as an actor first and foremost myself, I always found her a lot of fun to watch work. Dean Cain was deliciously adorable (still is!) himself, and between the two of them, they have the kind of chemistry directors and producers usually only dream about for a pair of leads. That in itself inspired me to write about their characters, where before I had always written either screenplays, or purely fantasy prose. Of all the stories and short novellas I'd written previously, Lois & Clark fan fiction was the most grounded in reality believe it or not! )

How long have you been writing?
Ever since I could hold a pen ) I finished my first novel length story when I was about 12 (No, I won't pass it around!) LOL. I started it when I was 11 years old because I had this idea, and my mom 'dared' me to write it. Well!! That was it! <g>

I wrote it in a workbook I used to keep, every day more and more until it was all done. You can only imagine how excited I was when I learned to type! ;) Creating characters has always been something I've been passionate about, and it's always a little humbling for me to realize that writing about two *already created* characters can still keep and hold my interest when I throw them into new and as-yet unexplored situations. It reminds me of how special those characters are and how universal.

How long have you been writing L&C fanfic?
I didn't get into L&C fan fiction until about the end of the 2nd season, beginning of the 3rd. It was a combination of my unwillingness to admit that I wanted to <g> and a genuine lack of time while I was studying for my degree. It's been around 3 years now, I suppose )

What types of Fanfic have you written?
I think I'm probably notorious for tearjerkers and dramatic tension ;) I love to take my toys apart and fill them with angst before I put them back together again. I don't think I could ever write a story where things *weren't* fixed (at least moderately) in the end, but to me, desperate need accompanied by a healthy dose of urgency (and perhaps a little misunderstanding to add to the conflict) has always been important to my building of a dramatic narrative. Whether that's a fictional piece of prose, or a screen or teleplay. So I usually works towards that kind of tension, which of course, finds resolution as the story unfolds. )

Most recent story posted? Where?
It's been a while... not counting any round robins or co-authorship pieces I've done, that would have to be "And The Answer Isn't" which was an Nfic piece, not yet adapted to PG. It's up at my fiction website along with my other Nfic, but folks would require a password from me to get there, which I'm sure everyone understands.

Favorite story you have written? Why?
Got to be Heaven's Prisoners. ) That story was such an emotional tap on my soul, I think I poured things into it which I probably don't want to revisit! <g> Still, I've had quite a bit of mail from people who have read it, and if it really has touched as many people as have written to tell me so, then I'm both awed and humbled by that. It was an emotionally taxing story to write, but cathartic in that respect as well.

Current project/projects?
dum-da-dum-dum <g> Kathy Brown (of E-I-C Archive fame ;) and I are working on one right now, and have been for over a year (!?!) If you can imagine the magnitude of this thing. It's huge, but it's a labor of love for both of us, and hopefully we'll be able to release it this millennium! ;) It's actually a spin off from "That Old Gang Of Mine", sort of a what-if turned elsewhere and pretty much rewrites most of season two after that ;) I won't say any more though or I'd risk execution.

I've also got a personal elsewhere/alt story I'm working on right now, a *very* (and I mean *very*) different version on what might have happened if alt-Clark found alt-Lois in his dimension. I don't even keep to alt continuity however, so it's more of a borrowing of the characters of Lois & Clark in the situation set up by the alternate diminution; his never having met her, she being 'lost' in the Congo... From there on in, it's totally different. ) And I don't know when it will be completed either. It's also long, I don't seem to be able to write truly short stories where L&C are concerned. P

Interview Questions

What about the L&C and the characters do you like the most?
Lois & Clark are timeless and always symbolic of everlasting romance. What could be more endearing than that? <g> The series was given a very "new-and-now" slant by DJL when it was first aired, and thankfully the romantic tension which was set up in season one and two was finally allowed to climax ;) We were given a rare glimpse into the love life of "the perfect man", and the very fact that Lois was as aggressive and intelligent as she was proclaimed her as an icon in just as powerful a way as Superman ever was. That fairness in characterization was the largest draw for me to the series and for my interest in the story. That, and the remarkable actors who played them so well.

Who is your favorite character to write and your least favorite character? Why?
That's an easy one! I love writing for Lois. I enjoy getting inside of her head, and exploring the tempest of thoughts she's always had. She's a living contradiction in terms sometimes, but always intelligent, 3 steps ahead (most of the time ;) and with a great range of vivid emotions to delve into. Much of that, I have to admit, is owed to Teri Hatcher's skill at her craft, in my opinion. But it still makes for great writing material. <g> Clark was right when he called her a 'little tornado'. She's amazingly fun to write, even when she's really angry. ;)

As for least favorite... I guess I'd have to say... Jonathan Kent. (don't hit me! <g>) It's not that he's not an integral character, but I've never found him, on his own, to be a character which moved either my stories, or my inspiration forward. Perhaps that's also because he wasn't very well developed even on the series, and that may well have translated to my own work. I've used him in fic before, and I probably will again, but he's probably likely never going to be a favorite of mine.

How do you interpret them in your work?
I hear voices in my head? LOL Seriously, I do. After watching Teri's portrayal of Lois and Dean's portrayal of Clark for so many years, one gets a feeling for who the characters are, so profoundly that for me, at least, if I sit down and imagine a scenario, I can hear their voices clearly. Not simply what might be said, but how, and who would be feeling which emotion at which point. In many ways, I let them explore their own characterization within the confines of my shoreline in that way.<g> Kind of me, wouldn't you say? LOL

How has being a member of the entertainment industry aided you in writing for the characters of Lois and Clark?
Well, I don't think it has, honestly. The characters of Lois & Clark were certainly a product of the entertainment industry, but I think that true insight into their complexities is really much more of a personal psychological take on characterization than it might have had anything to do with knowing the ins and outs of writing a teleplay. Superman is a universal icon, and the Lois Lane created for the series by Teri and the writers was likewise as worthy of standing on her own. Anyone inspired by the story and willing to explore those aspects which touched their hearts could just as easily have written Lois & Clark fan fiction. If anything, my experience in the industry may have lent itself to my interest in the quality of the acting I saw, which figures very prominently into most fanfic author's work, since we write not only for Lois & Clark, but for Teri and Dean. In that sense, perhaps I wrote for two actors. But I prefer to think that I just wrote. Period. No strings attached. ;)

What are you working on now and where do you see it going?
There's the project that I mentioned, with Kathy Brown and myself, as well as my other story. I see them both being completed slowly, but surely. My interest hasn't dimmed, only my access to free time these days! ;)

What is your opinion about the following types of L&C fanfic's?
Action?

Drama?

Humor?

Round Robin?

Nfic?
It's so difficult to categorize most stories under any one of those headings. For the most part, any one story could be several of those, and all at once. I'd have to say I will read anything which stirs my interest or my heart ;) If it happens to fit into any one of those categories, then it does and I'm just as thrilled with it. They're all admirable in their own right.

Has *everything* been done in your opinion, and if not, what is left?
The human imagination is such a vast universe, I doubt that we could ever hope to cover "every" conceivable fantasy, even for Lois & Clark. ;) What's left? Everything we've yet to dream of. And that is probably just as enormous as what's already been accomplished, if not even greater still.

What would you have done differently if you had been a writer for the series Lois and Clark?
I think the series was so unique that to tamper with it now, in retrospect would be to take away from the charm that characterized and identified it. Like most FoLCs, I wasn't thrilled with the fake wedding, or Dr. Deter But as components of a much larger, much more fulfilling storyline, I can't imagine trying to redo anything. ) Except perhaps in "elsewhere" fanfic.. but that's a different kind of fun which still allows the series, as it was, to remain intact as a separate entity ;)

What do you think makes the best story?
For Lois & Clark? A lot of soul on the part of the writer, a little conflict, a dash of the unexpected and a truckload of creative inspiration to take us through characterization, the integration of Lois & Clark's patented romance, humor and adventure which every fan fiction author of this series attempts to capture. Wrap all that up together and there's no way you wouldn't have a tremendous piece of work well worth reading for an FoLC ;)

Where is the best place for a reader to locate your work?
Generally, the Fanfic Archive (http//lcfanfic.actwd.com) houses my PG work, anything that's not rated PG is up at (http//destinyy.com/lcanfic/nfanfic) but access to that site is restricted unless I'm written to privately and a password is requested from me (with the usual information, that the individual is of legal age, and will not distribute the work without my consent, yadda yadda, blah blah! ) I've also worked on several of the Round Robin IRC stories available, and some of my work is on Zoomway's Nfic site as well, which is also restricted access. So.... pretty much all over the place!
